Woodlands

This property is nestled on a long, linear site, with a garden studio that overlooks the local AONB. This project involved the demolition of an existing bungalow on a single plot that was closely adjacent to the neighbouring properties. Therefore, the construction program had to allow for all the works to the rear of the property to be carried out first, as once the main shell of the house was constructed there would be limited access to the rear.

Externally the house blends traditional brickwork and clay tiles with modern elements of natural zinc and brick soffits.
The Clients were very much involved with the design of the house working alongside the architects. Some materials specified had long lead times therefore we had to ensure timely ordering to enable deliveries to work with our construction program. The internal tiles, for example, had to come from Japan by sea so had to be ordered 8 months in advance.

Internally, the tumbled limestone flooring creates a sense of cohesion on the ground floor, complemented by Clayworks and Tadelakt plastered walls. New high-performance windows and doors from Rational and Urban front door were installed.
The project included a new air source heat pump system and full underfloor heating to both ground and first floors. The fixture and fittings included, wet room detailing to two bathrooms, bespoke basins, bespoke kitchen and joinery all designed by the architects with the Client input.
